The students in Department 1 are aged between five and eight years. During their time in Department 1, students are provided with a teaching and learning curriculum developed in conjunction with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). Additional programmes include the development of effective communication systems, sensory integration, play skills and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) teaching. The teaching team is supported by a team of specialist teachers and a multi-disciplinary team.
Our commitment to providing inclusive learning opportunities appropriate for individual students includes sessional teaching and learning activities at Templestowe Valley Primary School and an inclusive learning classroom at Belle Vue Primary School. These settings are a unique innovation in inclusive education and are staffed by specialist teachers from Bulleen Heights School.
